Welcome to the Deubrook Air Rifle Club website. Our club was officially formed on November 16th, 2022 as a Junior Shooting Sports club focusing on firearms safety and air rifle competition for the students of the Deubrook School District in South Dakota. We are not a school sponsored organization, but exist for the benefit of the district's junior and senior high school student population.

As a new club in our second year, we are building on the progress we made last year. That means we are raising funds to purchase the range, range equipment, and air rifles we need to train and compete. If you would like to help us, please visit the sponsors page for more information on our fundraising objectives.

We are affilated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program and the American Legion Shooting Sports.

Thank you to all our sponsors this season and to the parents for your support. Also thank you to the school administration for allowing us use of the facilities and thank you to everyone that has been supportive of our club!

With the last competition of the season finished, it is awards time.

Since we are a club sport, not a school sponsored varsity sport, we don't award a letter, instead we award a club patch. At the beginning of the year the criteria for earning a patch were established; participation in competitions and participation in club fundraising. This year we had five members earn their patch: Gabby Foulk, William Foulk, Lidia Dupraz, Elyse Hopfinger and Carter Hawks (not present for photo). These same members also earned a patch for participating in the American Legion postal match and a Aces poker chip for participation in the CMP Aces postal match.

We also presented three "All Star" awards for outstanding attendance at practices, outstanding participation with Legion breakfasts and outstanding work ethic during practice including setting up and taking down of our portable range. This award was presented to Gabby Foulk, William Foulk and Elyse Hopfinger.

We had one club member who stepped up to help out on several Legion breakfasts when it looked like we might end up short handed. In doing so, she saved the day and really made a difference for the club. The "You Make a Difference" award was presented to Lucrecia Grazier (not present for photo).

The "Top Shot" award for high scoring shooter was awarded to Lidia Dupraz.

Several shooting sports publications worth checking out.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program's "On The Mark" is published quarterly and discusses news and other informative topics for junior coaches and athletes to enjoy. A print subscription currently costs $8.00 but the digital edition is available to download for free from the website.

The National Rifle Association's "Shooting Sports USA" competitive shooting journal is published monthly and covers a wide variety of shooting sports involving juniors and adults. It is only available in digital format. You can download it free from the website or, subscribe for an email notification of new issues.

USA Shooting publishes a Newsletter covering USA Shooting events and the activities of the USA Shooting team. This coming summer is the 2024 Olympic Games so there should be good information on the athletes competing in the shooting events. The newsletter is available to read online, or you can download a PDF copy for off-line reading.

The start of this school year has been very busy for our members. Many of our club members are involved in school sports and many in multiple sports, several of which have made it to the South Dakota state championships. Despite the scheduling conflicts we have been working hard with practices and assisting the American Legion Post 88 with their monthly breakfasts.

New school year, new season and new (to us) rifles! We were able to purchase three used PCP (Pre-Charged Pneumatic) Sporter Air Rifles, from The Humboldt Sharpshooters, that are in fantastic condition. We also have obtained two SCBA air tanks (Thank You Elkton Volunteer Fire Department for donating and Andy Dupraz for coordinating) to charge these air rifles.

Two of our main fundraising goals for this year are to purchase a second portable air rifle range, so we can have six members on the line at a time, and to add additional PCP Sporter Air Rifles.
